Two reasons: First, it allows us to provide a peaceful, orderly environment for grownups, who often come here to get away from their kids or hectic lives for a weekend. Second, frankly, it's a fail-safe means to protect our nudist resort in an increasingly polarized political climate. If you have children who you'd like to bring with you on your vacation, we recommend the nearby Show-Me Acres resort.
Why the name Secrets?
It's intended to evoke the way we're tucked away here, away from cares, in the heart of Ozarks Lake Country. We also like to provide our guests with a place to relax naturally without the worries of their activities being spread around town when they leave.
Do I have to be nude?
If you're just trying out nudism, or your spouse is more comfortable with nudism than you are, then you don't have to undress! We know that everyone's different, and we're glad to accommodate those differences. There's a limit to that, of course; if you keep showing up alone and dressed, or if you're a couple and you both keep visiting without disrobing, we'll wonder if you're really serious about being a nudist.
I'm kind of ashamed about the shape I'm in. I'm too fat/thin/wrinkly/hairy/smooth/scarred/stretch-marked/pockmarked. I'm going to be a laughing stock, right?
No, because, WE ARE TOO (view the photo gallery - none of us would win a beauty contest). That's the great secret which clothing keeps that everybody's imperfect. Everyone you encounter at Secrets will have at least one of the characteristics we just listed.
Do you have gender based quotas for membership?
No. Some clubs have resorted to these as a means of maintaining an even ratio of men to women, since men in our society have more experience with public nudity than women. We value every member regardless of gender, and we welcome one and all.
(Women) What if it's that time of the month?
Of course, feel free to wear whatever kind of protection you need, along with any necessary clothing. One of the advantages of being around nudists is that we don't make a big deal about our bodies - or those of other people.
(Men) I'm not used to being naked, especially around women. What if I get an erection?
This is the all-time #1 question from men who are worried about trying nudism. The answer is: We don't care. Men know from adolescence that a certain number of erections are inevitable, both from physiological and psychological reasons. And adult women know this too. When nobody else pays attention, the "pressure" will be off you.
(Women) I have half a dozen bras in my closet designed to eliminate nipple "show through" Are people going to be offended if my nipples get erect?
Of course not! Between breezes and water evaporating from a dip, your nipples will be as erect as often as the men's, and for the same reasons. We are very used to it.
What is your privacy policy?
We take your privacy very seriously. We never will sell your contact information to anyone. In the future we might join AANR, TNS and/or INF (nudist federations), and share your contact information with member clubs that have similar privacy policies; however, you always will be able to opt out of such an exchange. Phone calls to Secrets are answered by Secrets staff only; e-mail from this site goes directly to a mailbox that is accessible only to Secrets staff.
This web server, as part of its normal functioning, logs certain information during your browsing. None of that information traceable to you under normal circumstances. The information logged includes your IP address (your computers own address on the Internet, which is necessary for the web server to route these pages to you), the type of browser you use (many Web sites send different pages to different browser types), and which web pages you read and when (so we can measure user interest -- naturally, we want to know if anybody is reading this stuff!). This information cannot be used to identify you by name unless it is combined with your ISP's records, and this will not be done unless you attempt to hack our server. Out of respect for your privacy, we have designed this site not to use tracking cookies (small text files used to track your browsing elsewhere) or transparent tracking pixels (small graphics used for the same purpose). Our links page does contain links to websites run by entities other than Secrets; we cannot vouch for their privacy policies.
What are the rules of conduct?
Patrons must be at least 21 years of age, and must be able to document this with a current U.S. state driver's license, current U.S. state ID (for non-drivers) or, in the case of non-U.S. citizens a currently valid passport. No other form of identification will be accepted. Secrets reserves the right to judge, in its sole discretion, whether a prospective patron fulfills this requirement. For the purpose of this section, "U.S. state" shall be deemed to include U.S. commonwealths, territories, possessions, and the District of Columbia.
Of course any action that is illegal on private land is banned.
While you're welcome to bring and drink your own alcoholic beverages, we expect you to drink moderately and behave responsibly
While on the topic of intoxication, absolutely no controlled substances are permitted at Secrets. This includes marijuana
You are welcome to smoke at Secrets, subject to the comfort of non-smoking guests. If you are asked not to smoke in the vicinity of a non-smoker, please respect his comfort and health and finish your smoke elsewhere. When smoking, please use one of our ashtrays at all times; if you don't see one, just ask a member of our staff. Butts go in the ashtrays only --not the lawn, decks, campsites or plumbing.
The living room and kitchen of the main house are open to all visitors between 6 A.M. to 10 P.M. The owners room and bath are private residence, and such is not open to the public
If any activity offends a guest, we ask that you please respect their request to take it some where else. If a guest has any issues with another guest we ask that you come to a staff member if you feel you cannot settle the issue as adults.
Because many nudists are justifiably concerned that their nude likeness not appear in photographs, we have created a photography policy. Photography of any sort is prohibited without the written consent of the subject(s), the photographer and Secrets. At least one person at Secrets, who is on Secrets property at all times when the photographer is present, must sign the consent form as a subject in order for the photographer to possess a camera on Secrets property. (In other words, a photographer can't get out of the consent form requirement by claiming he is just photographing the landscape. Moreover, he can't be running around with a camera when his consenting subject is not at Secrets.) The original of this consent form shall be kept on file at Secrets. Secrets staff will have a camera to take pictures, we will only take pictures of you if the consent form is signed by you. We will be happy to take photos for you and send them to you via e-mail; however we ask that you not bring cameras to the facility.
Unless specific permission is granted, you shall not possess any photographic device (including, but not limited to, camera-equipment cellular telephones, PDAs or notebook computers; video cameras of any sort; and film based still motion picture cameras) on Secrets grounds. (Notebook computers without cameras are permitted.)
Photographers authorized under the provisions of this section shall limit their photography to the subject(s) who signed the consent form, and/or landscapes without recognizable people in them.
In addition to the provision of previous sections, photographers violating the provisions of this section shall have their film or digital media confiscated. Confiscated film shall be destroyed, confiscated digital media shall be erased and returned. If the storage media cannot be separated from the camera device, the entire device shall be confiscated, and its photographic media erased. In the event that Secrets cannot erase a digital medium (or, in the case of film, the camera is designed not to be re-used after the removal of film), Secrets will destroy the medium (or film) even if that means destroying the camera device that houses it.
If subject(s) do consent to being photographed by Secrets, they agree that their likeness may be used by Secrets, in:
Advertising,
Newsletter and other publications (electronic and print)
Motion pictures (digital and film), however delivered for viewing,
And any other medium now existing or yet to be devised which can display the photographic likeness;
And may be posted on Secrets property for bulletin-board or decorative purposes.
Secrets agrees that uses 1-5 will be restricted to the purpose of promoting nudist resorts operated by Secrets and/or its successor entities. Secrets will not convey any right to use the likenesses to any third party without the written consent of the subject(s). Subject(s) may opt out of any or all of these uses by so stating on the consent form.
While Missouri law allows possessors of concealed-carry permit to carry a firearm on private property, it also allows the property owner to opt out of that provision through notice to the permit holder. Therefore, you may not possess firearms or firearm ammunition on Secrets property at any time, regardless of whether you have a concealed-carry permit, without the written permission of Secrets management. This includes any firearm, including those ostensibly carried for the purpose of hunting. (We do see the irony of banning concealed weapons in a nudist resort, but we have to address this for legal reasons.) You are also forbidden to possess any other weapon on Secrets property, other than knives of a design that generally is used for camping and cooking, without the written permission of Secrets management.
Hunting is not permitted without the written permission of Secrets management.
For the protection of guests, our buildings and the natural environment, no explosive of any kind, including (without limitation) fireworks, may be brought onto Secrets property without the written approval of Secrets management.
You may be nude anywhere within the privacy fence, in the woods or in any Secrets building, at any time. As a practical matter, that encompasses virtually all of the property. Elsewhere, including any area of the property within view of neighbors or public roads, please dress fully (at least swimwear sufficient to satisfy state and local laws)
Payment in full for all services is required at the time of entry.
Secrets reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to apply the provisions of above sections to you if you cause a disturbance of any type other than the ones listed herein.
Failure to abide by any provision in these Rules of Conduct will result in your immediate ejection from Secrets. Secrets reserves the right to ban you from its property and events that it sponsors as a consequence of such failure, for any length of time that, in its sole discretion, it deems appropriate. If you commit a crime while on Secrets property, we also will report you to the police.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Secrets, its owners, staff and volunteers (collectively "the proprietors") for any injury that you might sustain while on Secrets property, regardless of whether it may have arisen from an action or omission of the Proprietors. Nothing in these rules shall be construed to represent any waiver by Secrets of any right of action that it has, or might have in the future, arising form its dealings with you.
Please note these rules are incorporated into your registration/membership agreement by reference. They form part of a binding contract between you and the Proprietors.
